Changing me...

Lately, I've been feeling changes in my heart. I've been feeling as if God is preparing me for something. I don't know what he has in mind, but I'm trying to be open to any and all ideas. That's difficult for me to do because I'm a person who doesn't do all that well with big changes (I guess that's probably most of us!), but I have to remember that as a child of God, he asks some pretty big stuff from us sometimes. Remember when God asked Abraham to offer his son Issac (Genesis 22)? That is a serious request. Can you imagine laying your son down on the altar and getting ready to kill him? How did Issac respond? What did Abraham say to him? I can't imagine it. But look at what the Lord says to him when he rewards him: "I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies,  and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me." (Genesis 22: 17-18)
So, reading that it gives me a bit more courage and strength to be able to say " OK God, I'm ready and willing." Then let him show me what he wants from me. Maybe it's nothing right now but just to start preparations in my heart for the future, maybe it's something that to me is small but to him is big. All I can do is pray and wait. I'm really not good at the waiting part. He sure is teaching me how to though!!
So, as I continue to pray and wait, I'm trying to get my body into shape. Those of you who know me well, know that I don't like to exercise. I have always wanted to be a 'fit' woman. Not a person who exercises constantly but does enough just to keep in shape. Now that I have a daughter, that's even more important to me. I want her to grow up enjoying things that help keep her in shape and healthy. But in order for her to want to do it, she has to see her mom work out (I guess I should learn to like exercising!).  It's just like anything else, the more you do it, the more you enjoy it. Right? Oh I hope so!

If you have any tips on how I can enjoy working out, I'd love to hear them!

God Bless!!

Monday’s Thoughts

Have you ever wondered about the history of Compassion International? I know I have. Whether you sponsor with Compassion or not, it doesn’t matter. I recommend that you take the 3 minutes and watch this video.   Watch Pastor Everett Swanson in Family | View More Free Videos Online at Veoh.com It’s beautiful to see how despair can turn into hope, just with one man’s dream and the power of God. Will you sponsor a child? If you decide to sponsor a child, feel free to share it with me. I would love to share in your joy!

Hooray, It's Friday!

What a week it's been! The beginning went really smooth, nothing too crazy was going on which is a nice way to start the week. Yesterday however was a different story...       To start my day I had all of the kids that I babysit (I don't usually have them all on the same day). The one child is new so I have to remind her often about the rules in my home. I'm sure that will change soon as she learns them, the first couple times are usually rough then it gets better. My daughter got pink eye on Wednesday so I was dealing with that and if my day wasn't crazy enough, my son gets the flu! My children hardly ever get sick and I was talking to my girlfriend on Tuesday and I made a comment about how we hardly ever get sick here and wow did I jinx myself. My son had been cranky all day but I just thought that he was teething ( babies are always teething!). So when he woke from his afternoon nap I went to get him. The first thing that that greeted me as I walked into his...

My favourite room in my house

Anyone who knows me personally can agree when I say that my favourite room in my house is my kitchen.                     Not because it’s fancy, which, it’s not.    Not because it’s clean & tidy, which it most often, is not.  Most definitely not because of the great view out my window, which is my neighbours garage. But because that’s the place where I get to create! That is the place where all the ‘magic’ happens. That’s the place where I go from ‘mom’ to ‘magician’ and I can just let my imagination run free! I LOVE,LOVE, LOVE to bake (this is not an exaggeration).  What I also love, is a baking challenge. I have a few friends with restricted diets and I have had the opportunity to bake for them. I have friends that can’t have sugar or dairy and only certain kinds of flour.  This was quite a challenge for me in the beginning, but I have done a lot o...
