Mama got a make over!

For my birthday gift, my 2 great sisters took me out and made me over from head to toe! It was a really wonderful gift and a great experience so I thought I'd share my day with you.

6:15 am - Alarm goes off (not that I was sleeping anyway) and I get up and get ready.

7:00 am - Sister T comes to pick me up. We stop at the gas station for gas and then go to Mc Donald's for a coffee & muffin. Then it's off to Winnipeg to pick up sister A!

8:00 am - Arrive at sister A's house. We are very early. We go inside and finish our coffee's while we wait for her to finish getting ready.

8:45 am - Off to the Hair Salon!

8:54 am - Arrive at Hair Salon. Go inside. Male assistant takes me in to "get me ready for my color".  He leads me to a dressing/bathroom and asks me to change into a cape (this is done to protect my clothing from any color getting on it). He gets me a coffee and seats me in the color chair.
Stylist and Sisters discuss what color I will get. I choose not to be a part of this because I want to be surprised.
Stylist applies color and we make small talk. I wait 5 minutes then female assistant comes to work in my color.

10:00 am ish - Female assistant comes to get me to wash my hair. OH MY! What a relaxing experience. I could have fallen asleep.

10:30 am or so - I get seated in the 2nd waiting room.

10:45 am - Stylist comes back to get me. He gives me the most awesome haircut. He then spends 20 minutes or so blow drying/styling my hair for me. He makes my hair the softest it's been in a long time. It has so much body too!!

11:25 am - 'Ta da' The Sisiters finally get to see the new hair! They Love it!

Now, It's off to lunch!

11:30- 12:30 - Lunch at Joey's restaurant. Delicious.

12:30 - Let the shopping begin!

1st stop - Reitmans. The girls have an outfit in mind, so they send me to the change room and they bring me stuff to try on. I'm very undecisive so this is perfect! After all the trying on, I find a fabulous pair of jeans and it's off to the next shop!

2nd stop - Smart Set. I try on 6 (?) sweaters/shirts and find one that we really like but don't want to buy yet, just in case we find one that's better. So we put it on hold and go to the next store.

3rd stop - Ricki's. Again I try on a ton of great sweaters, but, don't find one that beats the first one.
We walked into a few more stores but didn't see anything that we liked. By then it was time for my make up appointment!

2:00 pm - Make up at Mac. Cosmetics. The girl who did my make up did an excellent job! I was a bit worried, but I had no reason to be.

3:00 pm - Shoes! Off to Aldo and Spring to try on shoes. Found a great pair at Aldo, but had to go to Spring just to make sure they didn't have something better ;)

Accessories!! Make a quick stop at Aldo accessories but they didn't have the right earrings. Stop at shoppers on our way past and found a great pair!

Now, time to drop off Sister A and take the after picture!

My New Look!!!

Now, it's time to head home and show my husband what happens when the girls go out for the day!!

5:15 pm - Pull up on driveway... get out of car... husband is outside...

... his jaw drops.

I kinda think he likes it.
I know I do.

It was a really great day and an experience I'm sure I won't soon forget. Thanks a million to the best sisters a girl could ask for!!

Monday’s Thoughts

Have you ever wondered about the history of Compassion International? I know I have. Today, as I was catching up on some blog posts that I’ve missed lately, I came across this video.  I thought it would be good to share with you. Whether you sponsor with Compassion or not, it doesn’t matter. I recommend that you take the 3 minutes and watch this video.   Watch Pastor Everett Swanson in Family | View More Free Videos Online at Veoh.com It’s beautiful to see how despair can turn into hope, just with one man’s dream and the power of God. Will you sponsor a child? If you decide to sponsor a child, feel free to share it with me. I would love to share in your joy!

Not Perfect (not even close)

Do you ever get tired of feeling like you never say or do the right thing at the right time? I sure do! I always think about what I should have said or done long after the moment is passed. The more I think about it the dumber I feel. “Why can’t I just ‘be’ like the other godly women I know?” “Why do I constantly mess up?” These are questions that battle my mind quite often. I just don’t ever feel like I have it together. Take Sunday morning for instance: my husband was ushering so I was in charge of both of our kids for the first little bit of church. No big deal right? It should be easy. I have 2 kids not 8, so there should be no worries. WRONG! My kids sure know how to pick the days that they are not gonna behave and Sunday was one of them. Here’s just a bit of my Sunday morning: as soon as I sat down my son started to whine (he has a whine like no one else, as my sister so lovingly put it) and he would not stop whining. His nose was running also, so I took h...

My Spirited, trouble making, blessings.

My children are a handful some days (usually the days that I’m tired and have limited patience), my daughter is ‘spirited’ and my son is just a trouble maker. He loves to make people laugh and does so in a variety of different ways. Take last week for example, He decided to crawl onto our table (which is higher than normal), stand and then touch my light fixtures. Well, the other two babies that I babysit thought this was hilarious, so they would laugh and he would keep doing it. Then mom (me) seeing what was happening, would come take him off the table, tell him to stay off and carry about my business. However, that doesn’t work with him very well. So he would do it all over again and get the same response from his ‘audience’.  Finally, in order to make him stop, I had to put him into his crib where he couldn’t get out. My daughter is very exuberant. Anyone who knows her can attest to that. When she walks into a room, you know .  She is a child who is ‘mo...
