My favourite room in my house

Anyone who knows me personally can agree when I say that my favourite room in my house is my kitchen.

Not because it’s fancy, which, it’s not.

Not because it’s clean & tidy, which it most often, is not.

Most definitely not because of the great view out my window, which is my neighbours garage.

But because that’s the place where I get to create! That is the place where all the ‘magic’ happens. That’s the place where I go from ‘mom’ to ‘magician’ and I can just let my imagination run free!

I LOVE,LOVE, LOVE to bake (this is not an exaggeration).  What I also love, is a baking challenge.

I have a few friends with restricted diets and I have had the opportunity to bake for them. I have friends that can’t have sugar or dairy and only certain kinds of flour.

This was quite a challenge for me in the beginning, but I have done a lot of research and have learnt sooooo much in the process. Through this, I have also been learning how to make my own baking more healthier. I have also been able to bake ‘specialty’ goodies for church functions, which is such a pleasure for me because we have many gluten free members in our church family and I believe that every one should be able to enjoy cookies at special events!

Through my research I have come across a great food blog that is gluten free, sugar free & often dairy free. Check it out here.

This is one of her recipes:

Healthy Banana Nut Muffins.

I made them yesterday and they were fabulous!!!  They were moist and soft and sooo delicious. You couldn't even tell that there was NO sugar in them! The friends that I made them for liked them too, that’s always a bonus!

What’s your favourite room?

Some Encouragement...

What a nice weekend it was! The weather wasn't too bad either. It could have been a bit warmer but this is Manitoba after all. Spring is always unpredictable here!   I also had a chance to go back to the book fair by myself on Saturday. It was such a good time! I spent 45 minutes there and I only looked at one section! I came home with an armful of books and it only cost me 5 bucks! I didn't know this ahead of time but the last day is always half price day. So lucky for me, every book was half price! That makes shopping (especially when your on a budget) a lot more exciting! I was able to find some neat books for my sponsor boys as well. I found a couple on animals, one on hockey (the great Canadian sport), and one on northern Canada. Now, I just need to figure out which book to send to each boy.    I also found some great christian books for my husband and myself. The one that I'm reading now is called " Witness The Passion" by Richard Exley....

Lets see how this goes...

Well, I've just started my blog and seeing as how I'm new at this it might take me a few tries before I get the hang of it.    At the end of January my husband and & I decided it was time to add another member to our family. No we were not thinking of having another baby as we already have 2 kids and a dog I have enough to keep me busy. We decided to sponsor a child. This decision involved alot of research into different organizations until we finally settled on Compassion. The reason we picked Compassion was because it takes care of all the other needs of the child but the most important one is that they focus on the teaching of Christ. They work within the local christian church and all the children that are in the Compassion program go to sunday school and are taught about Jesus. This was the most important thing to us.       So, now that we have the organization how do you choose which child? They all need help. I'm a terrible decision maker as...
